Towards the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, a receiving system based on graded-index plastic optical fiber (GI-POF) was commercialized for the new 4K8K satellite broadcasting this year. It is also the 10th year that KPRI (Keio University Photonics Research Institute) was established as a base for the research & development of GI-POF adopted by the “FIRST Program” of the Cabinet Office.
